The National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) names Herman Miller the 2019 Class I Corporation of the Year for leadership in supplier diversity. The Corporation of the Year Award represents the very best in minority business inclusion practices and utilization, and is the premier national award presented by NMSDC.
“We are very proud of the advancements we have made in supplier diversity over the last 30 years,” said Andi Owen, Herman Miller President and CEO. “We know that by intentionally working with a diverse range of suppliers, each bringing a unique and valuable perspective, we can spark new ideas, strengthen Herman Miller as an organization, and contribute to a more inclusive and sustainable community.”
Herman Miller has been recognized 12 times over the last 14 years as “Corporation of the Year” by the Michigan Minority Supplier Development Council. This is Herman Miller’s first national supplier diversity honor.
Selected for the company’s robust supplier diversity program, Herman Miller demonstrates a commitment to minority businesses through active participation in NMSDC and its affiliate councils, inclusive sourcing and qualification metrics, and community outreach programs created to stimulate minority business development.
“Herman Miller is proud to collaborate with NMSDC and other corporations to advocate for minority firms in the global corporate supply chain,” said Kent Ensing, VP of Global Supply Management. “We continue to focus on growing and supporting our diverse suppliers, while expanding the economic impact for the communities where we live and work.”
