East Greenville, PA, October 16, 2025 – Knoll announces the North American debut of the Biboni Sofa by Sharon Johnston and Mark Lee of Johnston Marklee, extending its legacy of collaboration with pioneering architects and designers.
The sculptural form of Biboni Sofa echoes Johnston Marklee’s distinct approach to architecture, shaping space into volumes, voids, and curves. Plush scallops and soft folds are shaped into an anthropomorphic form that envelops and embraces the human body. A striking study in contrasts, Biboni is a design that is formal yet simultaneously welcoming. The sofa reflects a balance between formal and informal, offering a unique combination of softness and support, allowing the sitter to feel both relaxed yet engaged at once.

“There’s an elegance in how the sofa relates to the body,” says Johnston, who points out how the puffy folds are precisely placed to envelop and embrace the sitter.

Designed with an architectural mindset, every element of Biboni’s form was intuitively shaped to enhance its relationship to a surrounding space. It truly stands out when it appears in the round—floating away from the perimeter, as part of a constellation of elements composing a total interior. Though substantial in presence, Biboni appears to hover lightly above the floor, its contours animated by shifting light throughout the day.

The Biboni Sofa Collection includes three Sofa sizes (two seater, three seater, and four seater) and two Sectional sizes (sectional chaise and a wide chaise sectional) with a left- or right-chase orientation. Purchase and learn more about each product: Biboni Sofa and Biboni Sectional.
