Holly Hunt Reimagines Vladimir Kagan’s Iconic Capricorn Collection and Its Sculptural Legacy

The collection pays tribute to the original outdoor furniture line designed over six decades ago

New York, NY | December 2025 – Leading modern design brand HOLLY HUNT has relaunched Vladimir Kagan’s iconic Capricorn Collection – a modern translation of the designer’s pioneering sculptural language encapsulated in an 11-piece, wire-framed outdoor furniture line, originally produced more than six decades ago. Launching this December, the design has been reimagined by Chris Eitel, Design Director at Vladimir Kagan Design Group and protégé of Kagan himself, with an inspired, innovative approach that honors the original design. It will be available exclusively through HOLLY HUNT showrooms and HOLLY HUNT partner showrooms.

Originally conceived in 1952, the Capricorn Collection stands as a marvel of form, ingenuity, and material resilience. Designed with sweeping curves and tensile lines, each piece evokes an architectural lightness. Kagan constructed the collection in powder-coated stainless steel, a deliberate material choice to ensure exceptional durability and longevity against the rigors of outdoor living. These designs are emblematic of Kagan’s bold, sculptural design aesthetic and reflect his unconventional approach to materiality — most notably, his decision to enlist a fire-escape fabricator capable of bending steel into the fluid, organic forms that define this collection.

The Capricorn Collection was discontinued in 2013, as the pieces were notoriously difficult to manufacture. However, Eitel and Mark Minichiello, COO of Vladimir Kagan Design Group, were committed to restoring the collection. With strong support from Jo Annah Kornak, Senior Vice President and Executive Creative Director at HOLLY HUNT, who championed its return, the team scoured the globe for a manufacturer capable of meeting the design’s demands. Ultimately, they partnered with a firm renowned for its expertise in shaping and sculpting metal with seamless welding. Eitel and his team set out to reimagine the collection, with a goal of staying true to the pieces’ original form while refining their production to meet the demands of today’s market.

“Throughout the development process, we wanted to ensure that all edits and refinements made to the pieces were done so with careful intentionality and Vladi’s spirit in mind,” says Chris Eitel, Director of Design and Production at Vladimir Kagan Design Group. “We worked intimately with the manufacturing team to maintain that connection between designer and craftsman which is at the heart of Kagan’s design DNA.”

With these reintroductions, Eitel thoughtfully reworked each piece, maintaining Kagan’s integral design language while making slight adjustments for today’s lifestyle. For the Chaise Lounge, Eitel added an elegant, flowing back leg as support for the singular wheel design, preserving the integrity of Kagan’s lines and custom reproducing the wheel’s exact form. Similarly, an additional leg was added to the Lounge Chair for stability — a feature rooted in archival research that revealed Kagan had once experimented with this design.

“I’ve always felt that these pieces deserve a place in today’s design landscape, and I’m proud of the work this team has done to revive the Capricorn Collection,” says Jo Annah Kornak, SVP and Executive Creative Director at HOLLY HUNT. “Chris and Mark have preserved the essence of the Vladimir Kagan brand while thoughtfully advancing its design language, spending years perfecting the production. This process truly pays homage to Kagan’s innovative spirit.”

The Capricorn Collection is offered in two distinctive finishes: Crema, a sun-washed neutral that evokes warmth and serenity, and Espresso, a rich, earthy tone that grounds each piece with quiet strength. Both finishes enhance the sculptural elegance of the designs while ensuring durability in outdoor environments.

Available in December 2025, each piece will arrive etched with a detailed stamp marking its provenance, including Kagan’s signature and a registered serial number. This launch reflects the continued care and preservation of Vladimir Kagan’s legacy shepherded under Eitel’s stewardship.

The collection includes:

Capricorn Lounge Chair

The Lounge Chair embodies Kagan’s mastery of form and comfort. Its powder-coated stainless steel frame curves into a wire basket seat, cradling a padded cushion that nestles perfectly into place. Adjustable glides ensure stability across any surface.

Capricorn Sofa
The Capricorn Sofa extends the collection’s signature curves into a generous seating experience. Crafted from powder-coated stainless steel with a wire frame basket seat, it invites relaxation with tailored cushions that contour to its form. A timeless silhouette for outdoor lounging, engineered for enduring beauty.

Capricorn Chaise Lounge
The Chaise Lounge is a kinetic sculpture—fluid in line, bold in presence. Its powder-coated stainless steel frame arcs into a reclining wire basket seat with a tailored cushion, balanced by a custom rubberized wheel, flowing back leg support and adjustable glides and a tailored cushion.

Capricorn Bar Cart
A celebration of utility and design, the Bar Cart brings Kagan’s architectural finesse to alfresco entertaining. Bent stainless steel rods form a dynamic frame, supporting perforated sub-tops and clear glass surfaces. Outdoor-rated casters (details forthcoming) ensure smooth mobility, while its sculptural profile makes it a centerpiece in motion.

Capricorn Bistro Table
Compact yet commanding, the Bistro Table is a refined companion for intimate outdoor moments. Its powder-coated stainless steel frame supports a clear glass top over a perforated sub-surface, with a wire shelf below for added utility. Adjustable glides provide stability, while its proportions echo the collection’s graceful geometry.

Capricorn Bar Stool
A sculptural perch for elevated gatherings, the Bar Stool reinterprets the Capricorn wire basket seat with verticality and poise. Crafted from powder-coated stainless steel, its slender frame supports a cushion that fits seamlessly into the seat.

Capricorn Round Dining Table
A harmonious centerpiece for outdoor dining, the Round Dining Table seats six. Its powder-coated stainless steel frame is a lattice of bent rods and perforated sub-tops, supporting a clear glass surface that reflects the lightness of its design.

Capricorn Square Dining Table
Designed for larger gatherings, the Square Dining Table comfortably seats eight. Its powder-coated stainless steel frame is a lattice of bent rods and perforated sub-tops, supporting a clear glass surface that reflects the lightness of its design.

Capricorn Dining Chair
The Dining Chair is a triumph of minimalism, with a three-legged base, formed from a continuous bent rod, flows into a wire basket seat that holds a tailored cushion. Powder-coated stainless steel ensures durability, while its sculptural silhouette offers a stable and striking seat.

Capricorn Cocktail Table
The Coffee Table brings a sculptural rhythm to outdoor lounging. Its powder-coated stainless steel frame supports a clear glass top, with a wire shelf below for added function. Adjustable glides provide balance, while its open form keeps the space light and inviting.

Capricorn Two-Tiered End Table
Versatile and visually compelling, the Two-Tiered End Table offers layered utility with a sculptural twist. The powder-coated stainless steel frame supports a perforated lower tier with glass, and a wire-framed top tier that can be removed to create a single end table. Adjustable glides ensure stability, while its modularity adds a touch of Kagan’s playful ingenuity.
