ZEELAND, Mich., October 13, 2026 – For the second consecutive year, MillerKnoll, a collective of dynamic design brands, has been named to Newsweek's America's Greenest Companies list, a ranking that honors organizations leading the way in environmental performance and transparency.
The recognition comes as MillerKnoll continues to advance initiatives to reduce its environmental impact across operations, products, and supply chain, supporting its long-term goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 and embedding sustainability across its business. It adds to honors from TIME, Fortune, Business Intelligence Group, EcoVadis, and USA Today.
“Sustainability is about making steady progress, year after year,” said Gabe Wing, Vice President of Sustainability at MillerKnoll. “Being recognized on this list for the second consecutive year reflects our team’s commitment to continuous improvement across our operations, products, and supply chain.”
In the past year, MillerKnoll has continued to advance its sustainability strategy through emissions reduction, material innovation, circular design, and environmental transparency, including:
- Launching a new embodied carbon calculator that enables designers, clients, and sustainability teams to measure the carbon footprint of entire MillerKnoll furniture installations in minutes.
- Maintaining 100% renewable electricity sourcing across its global manufacturing operations and further advancing circular design principles centered on durability, refurbishment, and end-of-life solutions.
- Expanding its network of zero waste to landfill manufacturing facilities, with Geiger’s Buffalo, New York facility earning GreenCircle Certification for zero waste practices in July 2026 and Knoll’s East Greenville, Pennsylvania, site achieving zero waste to landfill status in May 2026.
- Advancing material innovation through Herman Miller’s Aeron Chair, incorporating recycled and bio based materials to reduce embodied carbon and support lower carbon product design.
- Progressing toward its climate goals following validation of its near-term emissions reduction targets by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
Compiled by Newsweek in partnership with Plant-A Insights Group and GIST Impact, the 2027 ranking evaluates companies across more than 25 sustainability indicators, including greenhouse gas emissions, water usage, waste generation, and environmental commitments and disclosure.

These EU standards are widely regarded as the most advanced globally. Only companies with publicly disclosed sustainability data as of June 30, 2026, were considered. Of the 6,000 companies initially reviewed, more than 1,700 companies met the eligibility criteria.
