Challenge Coin Honors Veterans in the MillerKnoll Community

A coin is often an unassuming object – its value fleeting. But these tokens of currency are often worth so much more than cents.

They are a life’s savings for a child who carefully slotted each coin into a piggy bank. They are a sentimental connection to generations of avid collectors. They’re minted to mark moments in time and people of influence.

For veterans, a coin is often a mark of camaraderie. Challenge coins were introduced to create bonds and promote awards and recognition.

In the spirit of connection, the Veterans Equity Team at MillerKnoll introduced a challenge coin program for service members in and outside our organization.

Set with a MillerKnoll logo on one side and branches of service on the other, the team distributes coins to clients, colleagues, and partners who have also served. The coins are exchanged through a hand clasp as if you are shaking hands with someone and the coin is transferred from palm to palm. Recipients collect and cherish the coins as a symbol of connection.

Beyond the challenge coin program, the Veterans Equity team is focused on creating a community for veteran associates and allies. In partnership with our Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion, and HR teams, the group helps with veteran recruitment and retention as well as local veteran outreach. They also help family members of veterans who may need support or assistance at home or work. The team consists of veterans from all branches of service, family members of veterans, and allies.

This Veterans Day, we thank all those who have served.
