Herman Miller Receives Excellence in Supplier Diversity Award from Great Lakes Women’s Business Council

The Great Lakes Women’s Business Council recently awarded Herman Miller the Excellence in Supplier Diversity – Best in Class award for 2021. These awards honor corporate members that have successfully integrated supplier diversity into their business practices, with meaningful results in certified Women Business Enterprise spend.

“Supplier diversity is a core part of our business,” said Cheryl Kern, Vice President of Diversity Equity, and Inclusion at Herman Miller. “Our membership with the Great Lakes Women’s Business Council holds us accountable as we continue to expand our partnerships with women-owned businesses.”

The Best in Class award is the highest ranking that companies from Michigan and Indiana can receive in the supplier diversity category. Herman Miller has maintained this status since it was first awarded the category in 2019. In 2018, the company was honored Excellence in Supplier Diversity – Advanced class and in 2016, Excellence in Supplier Diversity – Emerging class.

“We’ve made significant growth in this space, but the work does not stop here,” said Kern. “As we work toward building greater economic viability and equity, bringing more diverse partners into our business operations fosters richer creativity, innovation and impact we all benefit from.”

Herman Miller is committed to working with women-owned businesses in addition to minority, veterans, service-disabled veterans, hub zone and LGBTQ+ owned business enterprises.
