Geiger Celebrated by Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation for Efforts to Improve Environment

Geiger received the Waste Reduction and Recycling Award from the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation. Each year, the foundation celebrates individuals, schools, corporations, nonprofits, and government agencies striving to improve Georgia’s environment.

“We’re proud of the work being done in local communities to make our state cleaner, greener, and more beautiful,” said Natalie Johnston-Russell, executive director of the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation. “The people that we’re honoring this year truly bring our mission to life.”

Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation annual awards recognize outstanding efforts in the areas of litter prevention, waste reduction and recycling, community beautification, and overall community improvement. Honorees include businesses, law enforcement officers, elected officials, students and volunteers.

The Waste Reduction and Recycling Award recognizes the efforts of organizations that provide environmental education or other conservation messages to change attitudes and promote responsible waste handling. Efforts may include source or waste reduction, recycling, and composting.

The annual awards also honor Georgia’s Keep America Beautiful affiliates for their comprehensive environmental impact on local communities. Since its founding in 1978, the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation’s network of affiliates has grown to encompass over 70 local programs serving 80% of the state’s population.
