MillerKnoll is gearing up for the 2023 Healthcare Design Conference and Expo (HCD), where its collective of brands will offer a fresh perspective on hospitality, going beyond amenities and accommodations to design healthcare environments that deliver a better human experience for everyone and greater outcomes for health systems.
“At the heart of the healthcare experience is the hospitality mentality. By putting relationships first, we can best meet the needs of staff, patients, and visitors,” said Michelle Ossmann, PhD, MSN, and Director of Health Knowledge & Innovation at MillerKnoll. “For over 50 years, our brands have supported healthcare executives and design professionals to create spaces that benefit people, and our latest research and insights should help propel design decisions to the next evolution of care.”
MillerKnoll will appear throughout the expo with nearly 50 healthcare product features across casework, nurses stations, and seating, including a sensory-friendly chair co-designed with Dr. Wendy J. Ross and the Center for Autism and Neurodiversity at Jefferson Health.
In addition to exhibiting at the expo, Dr. Ossmann is speaking in a workshop entitled “R.A.I.S.E. the Bar for Healthcare Design through Research and Evidence” hosted by the Nursing Institute for Healthcare Design, an organization that educates and inspires clinician leaders about their role in healthcare design and construction, of which MillerKnoll is a founding member. Dr. Ossmann will also co-present in an educational session entitled “When Should Standardization in Primary Care Clinic Design be Standard?”, which will explore whether standardized design serves varied service lines. The talk will feature research results and representation from the North Texas Family Health Foundation, Community Health Center, and MASS Design Group.
